Atelier Lapaetau is a transcultural lab for experimental art, founded in 2022 between Bogot\u00e1 and Berlin. We create collaboratively, process-oriented, and non-hierarchically. We combine queer feminism and decoloniality. We work with various aesthetic forms, including experimental cinema, performance, performing arts, and visual arts. Simon(e) Jaikiriuma Paetau<\/strong> is a German-Colombian interdisciplinary artist whose work spans video art, installation, experimental cinema, and performance, with a focus on decolonial subjectivities and queer cultures. In recent years, Simon(e) has focused on inventing myths and utopias inspired by rural and urban cultures in Latin America, challenging hegemonic discourses. In this way, Simon(e) has created interdisciplinary works and collaborations with artists from historically marginalized communities, such as the Ember\u00e1 & Way\u00fau, sexually dissident non-binary bodies (including themselves), and rebellious LatinX trans women.<\/p>

Simon(e) studied Media Art at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM) and Film at the International Film and Television School (EICTV) in Cuba. Their films and videos have premiered and been awarded at renowned festivals and exhibitions such as documenta14, Cannes Directors Fortnight, New Directors\/New Films at MoMa & Lincoln Center, the Berlin Biennale, the BFI London, and the New York Film Festival. Notable awards and recognitions include the 3sat Emerging Talent Award at Oberhausen International Short Film Festival 2022, the Norman Award at the Stuttgarter Filmwinter 2023, the Best Director Award at the Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival Colombia (FICCI) 2018, and a nomination for the Queer Palm at Cannes Directors\u2019 Fortnight 2022.<\/p>

Simon(e) has presented their performances and video installations at prestigious museums, theaters, and art spaces such as the Wexner Center of the Arts, HKW, Martin Gropius Bau, Kasseler Kunstverein, nGbK, Ballhaus Naunynstra\u00dfe, Shedhalle Zurich, HAU, the Sharjah Art Foundation, and the Cinemateca de Bogot\u00e1. In 2023, Simon(e) held their first solo exhibition at the Berlinische Galerie\u2014Museum of Modern Art.<\/p>

Laura Paetau<\/strong> works on queer-feminist and post-migrant topics and aesthetics. She studied Sociology at Humboldt University of Berlin and Political Science at Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin, specializing in feminist theories. She has extensive experience in activist collectives and political self-organization. Her thesis, Feminisms and the New Political Generation<\/em>, a study on feminist activism in Berlin, was published in 2009 by Verlag Westf\u00e4lisches Dampfboot. She has taught courses on feminist interventions in pop music and culture at various institutes of both Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin and Humboldt University of Berlin. As a scholarship recipient of the International Graduate School Entre-Espacios \u2013 Zwischen R\u00e4umen<\/em> at the Latin American Institute of the Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin, she also conducted research at the University of California, Berkeley, where she studied theories on racism and belonging under john a. powell.<\/p>

The theory became practice in Berlin\u2019s independent scene. Together with the (heidy) collective, she curated the exhibition What is queer today is not queer tomorrow<\/em> at the New Society for Visual Arts (nGbK). Her dramaturgical debut was the production Frutas Afrodis\u00edacas<\/em> (2016) at Studio \u042f, Maxim Gorki Theater, and Ballhaus Naunynstra\u00dfe, where she continued collaborating on further projects. From 2019 to 2024, she worked first as a resident and then as a freelance dramaturg at Schauspielhaus Z\u00fcrich. There, she developed works with directors such as Leonie B\u00f6hm, Nicolas Stemann, Suna G\u00fcrler, Trajal Harrell, Yana Ross, and Joana Tischkau. Laura has many years of experience in diversity-oriented organizational development. Since 2024, she has been co-director of FAIRSTAGE, a Berlin model project focused on creating discrimination-free and equitable working conditions for employees in publicly funded theaters.<\/p>

Laura Paetau<\/strong> arbeitet zu queer-feministischen und postmigrantischen Themen und \u00c4sthetiken. Laura Paetau<\/strong> trabaja en torno a tem\u00e1ticas y est\u00e9ticas queer-feministas y postmigranteS. Luc\u00eda Gonz\u00e1lez Garc\u00eda<\/strong> is a cultural manager, producer, documentary filmmaker, and scriptwriter with a versatile career in interdisciplinary projects at the intersection of art, culture, and social justice. She holds an MA in Scriptwriting from the University of Seville, Spain, and a BA in Comparative Literature and Film Studies from the Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin, Germany.<\/p>

For over five years, she worked as a project manager at the Goethe-Institut Bogot\u00e1, where she coordinated projects of international outreach in visual and performing arts, film, and social activism. In this role, she collaborated with renowned artists and curators, including Halim Badawi, Carlos Motta, Mapa Teatro, Carlos Mar\u00eda Romero aka Atabey Mamasita, Moriah Evans, and Lucrecia Martel. Broadening her scope in cultural management, she served as lead producer of the 2022 Cineposium, the annual meeting of the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI). She also served as a project manager at the Colombian Film Commission (Proim\u00e1genes Colombia) and was Head of Guest Office at the Bogot\u00e1 Audiovisual Market (BAM). In 2023, Luc\u00eda took over the coordination of Eurocine and in 2024 she directed the festival\u2019s 30th anniversary edition.<\/p>

Her documentaries mainly address issues related to conservation and sustainability, as well as memory and post-conflict (the aftermath of the armed conflict in Colombia). She is one of the filmmakers behind the second and third seasons of the documentary TV-Series Heroes to Animal Rescue<\/em>, which was nominated for Best Cinematography and Best Entertainment Production at the 36th India Catalina Awards.<\/p>

Since 2022, she has been managing the transcultural lab for experimental art, Atelier Lapaetau, overseeing the distribution and circulation of Simon(e) Jaikiriuma Paetau\u2019s award-winning works, including the critically acclaimed film Aribada<\/em>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u00dcber f\u00fcnf Jahre lang war sie als Projektmanagerin am Goethe-Institut Bogot\u00e1 t\u00e4tig, wo sie Projekte von internationaler Reichweite in den Bereichen bildende und darstellende Kunst, Film und sozialem Aktivismus koordinierte. In dieser Rolle arbeitete sie mit renommierten K\u00fcnstler:innen und Kurator:innen wie Halim Badawi, Carlos Motta, Mapa Teatro, Carlos Mar\u00eda Romero aka Atabey Mamasita, Moriah Evans und Lucrecia Martel zusammen. Ihre T\u00e4tigkeit im Bereich Kulturmanagement erweiterte sie als leitende Produzentin des Cineposiums 2022, dem j\u00e4hrlichen Treffen der Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI).
